Dear Diary...
Get me out of here... in a desperate attempt to boost morale (or hide the fact we're sinking), the SVP puts out an email, it goes like this...
---------------------------------
Good morning. I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday. This is the first “This Week at SK+G” email – a quick weekly update to advise everyone about major happenings at the shop.
New Business: We are incredibly active on the new business front heading into 2008. We have responded to RFPs to retain the MGM MIRAGE Corporate account and to win the Union Park business. We made it to the second round for both of these and will be doing oral presentations at the end of this week for Union Park and on December 5 for MGM MIRAGE.
This week we are submitting RFP responses for both The Monte Carlo Resort & Casino and Mandalay Bay.
We have just recently successfully secured the Trump International Hotel & Tower account (PR), Montage Beverly Hills account as well as the Montage Residences. In addition, we’re sending a services contract to the Edward Thomas Companies, owners of Shutters, Casa Del Mar (both resorts on the beach in Santa Monica) and Canary (in Santa Barbara).
Couple all that action with some big launches for Lumiere, Palms Place, Planet Hollywood and The Water Club, and you can see that we’re heading into the new year with all pistons firing.
Holiday Party: Reminder that our annual party will be Thursday, December 13. Invitation to follow this week.
Your input: If you have an important announcement to share, please let me know by end of day Friday for the Monday “TW @ SK+G” email.

Hi Matt! How's the job at Robertson Wood?
Did you really think an "anonymous" posting this transparent would go undetected? Your lack of intelligence is truly astonishing.
You'll be hearing from me again very soon. In person.
Did you enjoy your Christmas bonus? Odd that a sinking, in-debt, unable-to-pay-their-own-bills company was able to bonus every employee. But then you didn't mention that, did you...
$5 for all and a party at Burger King.
Ha!
Dear Ms. Curtis:
I was forwarded an email penned by you, to your staff, outlining the wonderful upcomings at your advertising agency and your recent triumphs, Hoorah! Hoorah! I found your enthusiasm to be extremely uplifting and precisely the type of business people we are looking for.
Our unique product has been wonderfully received and we have just signed a distribution agreement with Purina Brands and are looking for the purrrfect fit to market our brand.
Please point your browswer to:

We have just done amazing interviews with several of the top feline glossies "Feline Today" and 'Cat's It" Magazine and cannot wait to include those in our press kit. We love the positive energy of publicity, but understand we need to establish our own identity crafted by a creative company such as yours.
Our budget is still going through the accounting mill, but we are estimating it to be at least 1.2 million dollars for one year. It is our launch you know! Very special!
Please let me know what would be a reasonable time frame to expect a proposal and creative presentation from your company and what additional information you will need about our products.
Thanks so very much.
Meow,
Kit Watson

"$5 for all?"
are you joking?
the person - or should I say imbecile - who submitted this gem is a certified jackhole. bonuses were
L-A-R-G-E.
unless you sucked at your job. ring any bells?
hi kitkat.
I realize you're not serious. But it seems like, since your letter is not funny enough to be entertainment for entertainment's sake, that you're attempting to be taken seriously. How droll of you.
And how sad.
Are you so astoundingly dense that you think you'll be taken seriously? do you think skg is under the impression that a marketer would try to enlist skg's assistance by way of a blog?
god, you're an idiot.

Well, now that a single, anonymous posting has begun a downward spiral that I was completely unaware of until today, I find it absolutely necessary to respond in an effort to somehow clear myself.
This is Matt Drew, ex-AE for SK+G.
I can see, given the general time when these ridiculous blogs were posted, why some might think that it was ME who started this mess.
But it wasn't.
Yes, I resigned from the agency.
Yes, I had to repay a relo package.
However, that is where the similarities end.
-PLEASE- bear in mind that there were others who were far more disgruntled than I, and that they were also in a position of having to repay their relo packages.
I hate cats.
I have never owned a cat, and as such have never worried about an inability to take care of a cat.
I have also NEVER "blogged" in my life (aside from this posting). I find it a complete and utter waste of time.
I also never had an issue with Eric Stein until my last week at the agency, and even that was stupid, minor, and in NO way just cause for this kind of passive-aggressive, anonymous retribution.
Eric, if you're reading this and at any point thought it was me who wrote it, I'm sorry.
I would never say this kind crap about ANYONE in a public forum, and if I ever felt the compulsion to do so I would at least have the stones to attach my name to it.
Regardless of the disagreement we had about that last photo shoot, I have had nothing but the utmost respect for you AND for Mr. Trautwein.
I will also say Eric, that I do sincerely regret how I ended that last phone conversation with you.
It was admittedly extremely immature and I should have had the common sense to swallow my pride and make it right before I left.
I'm sorry.
I have also NEVER . . . not ONCE had *anything* but goodwill and respect for Kim Nasuta. She was always one of the agency's brightest and most welcoming personalities, and one of the people that I knew I would miss the most.
And as for Ms Curtis, she was one of the people that I respected the most, and I hope that I have the pleasure of working with her in some form or another in the future.
Please also note that there is information posted within the body of some of these blogs that I was never aware of, and in all honesty could have cared less about or even had the time or energy to follow.
Trust me... I never once wasted a single minute concerning myself with what was happening on some of the other agency's accounts, like Yoga Werks.
Admittedly I was not happy.
That was clear.
But I was nowhere NEAR the level of displeasure and unhappiness as the person who posted this. In my exit interview I made it clear that I harbored NO ill-will toward SKG or any of the people who work there. It was just the wrong time.
Besides, I've never been the type to write about something that's bothering me.
If something is bugging me, I do something about it. Seems like a much more constructive use of my time . . .
To the first "anonymous" response, I'd actually like to hear from you, in person or by phone.
My cell number hasn't changed from that on the SKG phone list. Please feel free to use it at any time.
Or anyone, for that matter.
I personally could care less who actually posted this.
I do however, care about people falsely accusing me of doing something so out of character for me.
Mostly though, I don't want anyone named in these postings to think that I feel this way about them.
It really, REALLY sucks for me to think that they would...
I like grapes.
Well said, Matt. I think you made your case that you are not the anti-SK+G blogger. Whoever it is may be bitter as hell, but he or she isn't dumb. On the other hand, going to work at Robertson Wood begs the question "how desperate can you be?"
Does Robertson still call Marty Wood a useless cunt behind his back?
This entire BLOG and the comments to it have gotten out of hand and should simply end. Whoever the moron is that started this lovely quandary of shit hopefully no longer works for SK+G and if they do, I think those of us that are still employed here wish they would just kindly move on and leave. I honestly am sorry that I am even posting to this but I’m making a plea to everyone to just stop and to let this thing rest. It’s one person on one BLOG with obviously less than one brain. I believe that those of us not disgruntled are more intelligent than this and definitely have better things to do with our time. Vocalizing your distaste and making things up to make yourself feel better about your disgruntled feelings on a BLOG will never make the issues you are having change. Change the things you can and either accept the things you can’t or simply move on. With that said, let me leave you with this, no matter where you work, however many times you decide to jump ship or think that the pasture is greener on the other side of the fence, there will always be shit you don’t care for or agree with, you know, SSDD, (Same Shit, Different Day).
I like grapes.
Follow the clues. It sounds like your blogger is in Creative.
It is quite funny how people b!tch and moan about a job they work at by their own choice. It is like putting your own hand over a lit candle and asking the person next to you if they smell something burning ...then act like your clueless so they feel sorry for you.
Simply if you don't like the temperature of the water- get the h3ll out....And don't ruin it for every one else who is enjoying their swim.
I know...freedom of speech. The only flaw in this right is the one breathing negativity where there is no need for it- reminds me of the 1998 Valley High-School Cheer-Leaders looking to start rumors out of jealously and their silly lack of self esteem. If you like drama- go watch the days of our lives or oprah.
-Gg!rL
Ruin the swim? What is the turnover rate? 50%? How is the work? For shit.
Gg!r, enjoy your soak in the cesspool.
Shes right- a bit harsh(owch!) but very true and she has me fired up in support.
If you don't like any situation your in, why punish yourself and pout? Just get out of it, go your merry way and find your peace without regressing to a 4 year old mannerism. I am not saying I don't do this at times- lol- but I know I'm doing it to myself and I have learned that the more you worry about something the more it circles back around to haunt and irritate you(kinda Counter productive because it gets me nowhere fast).
Where ya'll one of those kids in little school who raised their hand to say they "want to be a unhappy fireman" or "a frustrated doctor" or "a depressed artist" when they grow up?
From the feel I get from this blog and the comment threads(and around my desk sometimes) it looks like everyone is scared to do something good, and be responsible for themselves or simply be in control of what they want to be when they grow up.
The message I have read here up till now has been 'Lets just blame 'the-man', the kids now-a-days, our economy, our employer and your spouse for our own.
And about the turnover rate- what does that have to do with anything?
Is this your first job you ever had? Every business has turnover, and as you came in SK+Gs' door, you will go out it someday. In your next job, you will go in that door too, and again go out it.
If everyone stayed at their first job in this world, we would all be still be in the cave man era and your MAC or PC would still be a pencil. The last Studio and Agency I worked for has higher turnerover than this place and it was not because they were a bad place to work for; It was because peopel changes their minds and they realized they were not the right fit for the job or the work environment. Some didn't like working for a team that was successful collectively, they wanted all the credit themselves even if it meant alienating them selves from the rest of their peers.
Welcome to the real world and life in it changes every day with every second. If ya'lls shoes don't fit, go some that do and stop pointing fingers at other for your own choices.
(ggirl I wanna m33t you- hehe)
Wow.
Ever feel like your in the twilight-zone?
I wanna meet her too.
I could use a good spanking with a leather whip.
well said. we sink or swim by our own accord.
this thread is going toward lord of flies like drama
if you dont like it get out and what do you want to be when you grow up analogies are classics and hit the nail on the head.
no pun intended
a true artist paints the picture as it is seen and interpreted
good call, both of them.
I like to wear summer dresses and have Trautwein lick me. Clay James likes to caress my flappy buttocks.
I thought Trautwein was already licking you. Or did he take a break?
i know who likes grapes
jealously said and weak.
Wow! SK+G is getting cut down to size..
Looks like Eric Stein has done a stellar job sinking a ship in the desert. How can you beat that?
